Janet and Mari are good friends, neighbors, moms and housewives who were both looking for a life outside of the home. After reading about the growing Virginia wine industry, Janet's husband suggested that the two friends explore marketing opportunities in that area. As Janet Carper stated, "we just jumped right into doing this when fate brought us to Occoquan for a visit. After four different merchants told us about the shop being available for rent, we decided to go for it."
The confirmation for this endeavor came when Jan's husband supportively encouraged their idea saying, "Sometime things open up for a reason!"
That was in September of 2000. Now in 2005 Mari has moved on to a new chapter in her life. She has remarried and is very happy starting that new chapter with the love of her life!!
