Description
Once again, my name is David R. Schlueter. I am a professional bladesmith and swordmaker, until recently just a hobbyist. I grew up in the metal working business. Since then I've worked in a wide variety of industries. Although my career eventually followed other paths, those early lessons provided a strong foundation to begin custom swordmaking. Through the years I have acquired many skills and experiences, which I have incorporated into the construction of the pieces displayed on these pages.
I have been working with Japanese style swords since early 1997. It should be noted that my intention has not been to make faithful reproductions of antique Japanese pieces. Rather, I try to capture the elegance, grace, and simplicity of those antiques, while providing a unique, personalized quality.
The sword shown here is one of my earlier pieces. I have been using it in my own martial arts training for over two years now. It has served me well for both kata and tameshigiri. Strongly built, with optimal balance and flowing lines, this sword stands out in a crowd. The attention to detail and craftsmanship embodied in this piece are characteristic of all my work.
