Title

Chicago Oak Brook Fertility Center – IVF, Infertility, Advanced Reproductive Health

Description

Oak Brook Fertility Center (OBFC) is a private medical facility dedicated exclusively to the management of infertility. It is fully equipped to provide complete diagnostic evaluations, comprehensive medical and surgical treatments, and a full range of Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) typically available only at major medical centers. To accomplish this, OBFC has: on-site endocrinology, andrology, and immunology laboratories; includes an in vitro fertilization/embryo transfer (IVF/ET) program backed by embryology laboratories; and is attached to the Oak Brook Surgical Centre. Our facilities are fully accredited and our staff is fully certified.

OBFC was established in the Spring of 1990 by Drs. W. Paul Dmowski and Nasir Rana to fill the need for a free-standing, state-of-the-art — yet patient-friendly — facility, dedicated exclusively to the management of infertility. Prior to this, Dr. Dmowski practiced infertility at different Chicago academic institutions since 1971. He developed and directed Fertility Programs at Michael Reese and Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's medical centers and at Christ and Grant hospitals. In 1983, he established one of Chicago’s first IVF Programs at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, and then another one at Grant Hospital of Chicago in 1989. In the 1970s, Dr. Dmowski was on the faculty at the University of Chicago and holds the rank of Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology currently at Rush Medical College. He founded, and for many years directed, the Fellowship Training Program in Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility (RE/I) at Rush Medical College where Dr. Nasir Rana was one of his graduates. Following his Fellowship Training, Dr. Rana became associated with Dr. Dmowski in the practice of RE/I.

Because patient care at major medical centers is frequently “9 to 5”, fragmented, and impersonal, the need for a free-standing, independent fertility center developed. This became possible during the second part of the 1980’s with the introduction of ultrasound-guided oocyte retrieval and other advances in reproductive technology and, thus, OBFC was established. It was the first such facility in the Chicago area and one of the first in the country.
