The New York Psychotherapy Collective Inc. was founded in 1996 by a group of psychotherapists in New York City, including our Directors: Ami B. Kaplan, LCSW, and Brannan Piper, LCSW. We are a "group without walls", meaning a selection of psychotherapists throughout the city participate in the collective, and all have their own private practices.
The admissions criteria are probably the most stringent of all the referral services in New York. Only therapists with Post-Graduate training from an accredited Institute are admitted (such as a psychoanalytic institute). In addition, we consider ourselves the best in the city, so membership is also based on reputation. Psychotherapists who don't have a good reputation don't get in our collective. We keep track of patient feedback about our clinicians and we take it seriously.
