Northern's original Intranet was constructed by co-op student Bryan Samis over the 2000-2001 school year under the supervision of Catherine Seiden and Debra Haworth. The idea was to create a site that would be of use to staff, students, parents, and the community. It had to be easy to update, and relatively low maintenance. The ideal architecture for this was decided upon during the initial planning phases. It was decided that the site would be primarily database driven. The first generation of the school Intranet was launched in February 2001, coded in PHP, and using mySQL for database connectivity. The second version of the site was launched in September 2003 and featured similar code but a different appearance (Greets to BlueRobot). It is currently administered by Northern students and Staff.
