In 1994/95, representatives of Five First Nations’ Beecher Bay, Pauquachin, Songhees, Tsartlip, and Tsawout met to start the long process of restoring authority and responsibility for caring for our children. The First Nations, Federal and Provincial Governments, worked as a tripartite working group to begin the transfer of authority for child and Family Services to the agency incorporated in 1997.
