- NewDMOZ.org was started to provide an alternate Human edited directory to DMOZ.org with reasonable review times instead of months or years, but still retaining the advertizement free and clean well organized look with quality links and descriptions. While DMOZ.org has done well, it has demonstrated that limited resources volunteer help doesn't always respond as quickly as the web changes. It's a simple goal, but not possible without the nominal fee charged for Featured Submissions or donations to support our editors and keep the resource free for those who wish to use it.
