Title

NorCal Irish Setter Rescue, Inc.

Description

Irish Setters are gentle, high energy, sporting dogs. They require a lot of attention and exercise. There are two "styles" of Irish Setters. The field or hunting style is usually smaller and has a shorter coat. The bench style Setters are larger, with longer feathery coats, and are typically the style seen at dog shows. Both styles of Setters require regular brushing and grooming. It is important to decide if an Irish Setter is right for you, and if you are willing to make a life long commitment to providing the necessary care, love, and attention that a Setter needs.

Once you have determined that an Irish Setter is the right breed for you, and you've decided that you would like to adopt a Setter, you can begin the adoption process by completing and submitting our online adoption form. Be sure to complete the entire form.

After your completed adoption form is reviewed and approved we will contact you to discuss the dogs that are currently available for adoption. One of our local volunteers may be asked to inspect your home to insure that the environment is appropriate for the dog. If there are no dogs available in your area we may contact other Irish Setter Rescues in our network to locate an available dog outside your area. Once we have found a suitable dog we can arrange for you to talk with the dog's foster family so you can find out more about him. Once it's decided that a dog is a good match, arrangements can be made for you to meet him and bring him home.
