My passion for beads began in Juneau while attending the University of Alaska Southeast. Every weekend after payday, my roommates and I would head downtown and buy as many beads as we could afford and spend several hours composing designs and teaching each other new tricks. After college, I moved back home to the Pacific Northwest and began work for a non-profit Child Abuse Prevention and Parenting Education Agency. While working there, I focused on helping high risk families get the services they needed to keep their children safe. I also spent my time working with Domestic Violence. I was a founding Board member of the Kitsap County Domestic Violence Task Force, and later became an independent contractor for them. Although officially not in the social services business anymore, I am still committed to helping prevent child abuse and neglect and domestic violence. A portion of my proceeds are donated to those causes. I have also facilitated parent-infant groups for parents and their new babies and have opened a website providing support, encouragement and humor for parents through stories that everyone can relate to - Mysticool Moms.
I have been married for 12 years and am the mother of two wonderful boys. I'm delighted at the opportunity to work at home and raise my sons at the same time. It is very challenging, but it is so worthwhile. Childhood doesn't last forever, but I hope your enjoyment of my jewelry does.
