Michigan Urban Search And Rescue
Description
MUSAR is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Funded Organization working in cooperation with the fire service, local emergency management, the Michigan Department of State Police and private sector agencies. MUSAR is housed at the Michigan Hazardous Material Training Center in Lansing, Michigan USA.
Michigan Urban Search and Rescue works with existing fire departments and their personnel along with the Michigan State Police, who provide rescue operations on a day-to-day basis. MUSAR also works with private agencies such as Communications Electronics, Emergency Operations Center and Young's Environmental, hospitals, and with individuals like structurual engineers. This cooperation achieves two very important goals: First is the attainment of a statewide functional task force capable of effective operations and immediate response; Second is the enhancement of local fire department response capabilities, both skills and equipment, for those departments that choose to participate in the task force.
The four specialized teams that make up the Task Force are the Search Team, the Rescue Team, the Medical Team and the Technical Team.
