Murray Hershman is the founder and President of Murray Hershman & Associates. An accomplished tax attorney and tax accountant and recognized throughout New England for his special expertise of the tax controversy process, Mr. Hershman has over twenty years of diverse tax experience. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Hershman was an attorney in the Office of the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C., a tax attorney for the law firm of Epstein, Becker & Green, P.C. in Washington D.C. and a tax manager for the accounting firm of Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Hartford, CT.
Mr. Hershman is an authority on tax controversy matters and represents individual and closely held business clients before the Internal Revenue Service at the local, regional and national levels, as well as before the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Mr. Hershman frequently testifies as an expert in federal courts and state courts on civil and criminal tax fraud matters, serves as tax counsel and forensic accountant to Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees throughout Central Massachusetts and as an Appointee of the U.S. Trustee as a Chapter 11 Examiner before U.S. Bankruptcy Courts in Worcester, Springfield and Boston. Mr. Hershman also provides counsel and representation to clients on federal and state tax compliance matters
Mr. Hershman is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, American Bar Association, Sections on Taxation and Criminal Tax Fraud, Worcester County Bar Association, Sections on Taxation and Bankruptcy and the U.S. Tax Court. He received his B.A. Degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and his J.D. Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan.Mr. Hershman has been an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Clark University in Worcester, teaching courses in taxation and business law and his radio and television programs "Tax Minute" are broadcast throughout Central Massachusetts. Mr. Hershman has written and lectured extensively on tax controversy and collection issues.
