Shigenori (George) and Christine Shimizu opened Murasaki Japanese Restaurant in Simsbury, CT in June of 1990. Born in Toyko, Shigenori was raised in Yokohama and trained at a cooking school run by his aunt. Shigenori moved to the United States in 1973. Shigenori became the Head Chef at Benihana's in Farmington, CT in 1976 where he remained until launching Murasaki in 1990.
