- Summary: Grease fittings are rated to the full working pressure of the valve assembly and can be used to grease the valve when it is under pressure. In fact, MSI encourages this practice when conditions such as high temperatures, distillates/condensate, and frequent cycling warrant frequent greasing. This requires a grease gun/pump that can safely achieve pressures higher than the line pressure of the valve. It must be noted that conventional plug valves can only be greased in the open position. Only GreaSeal plugs exclusively available from MSI allow greasing in any position. Please see section 1.0, step 29 of the valve manual.
