- aving been born and brought up in Augusta, Georgia, the heritage of the Deep South was instilled in me at an early age. My mother, the epitome of a true Southern lady, would be satisfied with nothing less than a daughter who was a proper young lady. Thus, my introduction to social skills and graces began at a very early age. My education in Southern etiquette began when I was barely able to walk — attending charm school, taking tap dancing and piano lessons, and later attending the Henri Price Social Academy for four years.
