Antony Van Couvering, CEO

Antony Van Couvering has worked with domain names and Internet infrastructure since 1996, and has played a substantial role in Internet governance issues. He has helped to shape Internet user experience, founding and running several companies:

  • NetNames USA, the first firm to handle domain name needs of larger companies. Sold to Group NBT (AIM: NBT) in 1999.
  • NameEngine, where Antony pioneered the corporate domain name services model still used today. Sold to VeriSign Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN) in 2001. Antony worked at VeriSign in strategy, marketing and software design through 2004.
  • Names@Work, a consulting firm specializing in domain names and Internet-based financial services and literary publishing.

Antony helped found Minds + Machines as a low-cost, full-service alternative to existing domain registration services. He lives in New York City.

Jothan Frakes, COO

Jothan Frakes has been managing and operating domain names and websites since 1993. He helped found eNIC, the registry operator for the country-code top-level domain .cc, and was eNIC's chief technical officer.

Jothan's roles at top domain companies include:

  • Senior engineering manager at VeriSign in charge of .tv and .cc
  • Vice president of business development at Name Intelligence, overseeing business development for registrar and hosting relationships
  • Senior director of business development at Oversee.net

Jothan created and produced the Domain Roundtable and DomainFest Global conferences. He has run live domain name auctions, and managed registry and registrar relations for more than 118 ICANN-accredited registrars.

For the past 10 years, Jothan has appeared at conferences worldwide, moderating discussions and speaking about:

Elaine Pruis, VP of Client Services

Elaine has worked in the domain industry since 2001, when she began supporting the .cx registry. She is a veteran of TLD launches, sunrises, migrations and day-to-day registry operations.

Over the past seven years, Elaine has worked with three iterations of CoCCA’s registry systems, supporting 150 registrars and 20 country-code TLDs using the CoCCA system. She has grown the CoCCA membership list to more 25 ccTLD members.

Elaine is a seasoned guest speaker at domain industry conferences. She has presented the CoCCA tool and model at ICANN and regional TLD meetings to TLD operators considering registry system options. Elaine specializes in teaching new users to navigate the registry system and supporting them as necessary. She lives and works from Ellensburg, WA.
