Real-life never ceases to amaze me. You couldn't make this stuff up in a fictional novel or TV movie of the week. It would be too unbelievable. Critics and viewers would laugh me out of Hollywood! So how can you explain this newest development in Congress? Republicans hate Democrats. Democrats hate Republicans. They fight at the highest levels of government like cats and dogs. They can't agree on anything. They filibuster and kill bills in committee that are good for America- simply to prevent the other side from getting credit for anything before the elections coming up.
This Millionaire Republican sat watching the "Day Without Immigrants" protest marches across the USA on Monday shaking my head in disbelief. For years I've been saying that the group that Nixon defined as "The Silent Majority"- educated, law-abiding, tax-paying, married-with-family, Republican producers and owners (homeowners, business owners, stock owners)- should hold our own nationwide protest. We should form our own union (The American Association of Producers, Owners & Taxpayers: AAPOT). We are the ones that form the backbone of America- not illegal immigrants. We are the ones that produce and consume virtually everything in America.
As you know from reading my book "Millionare Republican" and seeing my commentaries at this web site, I am a big fan of Republican philosophy- at least when it comes to the economy, wealth and taxes. But in many areas I believe we (as a party) are failing miserably at the moment. While many of President Bush's policies and decisions have been successful and good for America, his public relations team has been horrendous at communicating his message to the American people. It's time for a wholesale house cleaning at the West Wing. Bush's top strategists and many Cabinet members have out-stayed their welcome. I'd send virtually the entire team packing.
