The Miami Aikikai is a member of the United States Aikido Federation (USAF), which is under the direction of Yoshimitsu Yamada, 8th Dan, Shihan. This organization is recognized by Hombu dojo (original school) in Japan. The Miami Aikikai was founded in 1978 by Sensei Nelson Andujar, who now holds the rank of Rokkudan (6th degree black belt) and has been conferred the title of Shidoin.
