MiGente.com - The Power of Latinos

Launched in 2000, MiGente.com is an online niche social-networking site targeted especially for the Latino community. It is currently is the fastest growing English language site for the Hispanic community and has captured that much sought-after second generation immigrant who is using English as his/her primary language. In fact, on a national basis, more than 80% of second generation Latinos use English as their primary language (according to Synovate U.S. Diversity Markets Report 2006). As of June 2007 there were 2.8 million members, that is over 6% of the total US Hispanic population. Members come from a variety of Hispanic backgrounds, with those with Dominican, Mexican, and Puerto Rican roots leading the pack.

In May 2007, MiGente.com partnered with Ford Models to select Loreana Rojas, an aspiring model and MiGente.com member, to spend a day being pampered and photographed by top industry professionals. In February 2007, the site partnered with Si TV to launch new channels on the site. The collaboration identifies and promotes emerging music artists via Si TV's monthly sweepstakes on MiGenteAmor, the dating component of the social-networking site.
