Meeks Shoes is a family firm that was established over 100 years ago by Edward Meeks. Edward ran away from home with just a shilling in his pocket and took a job selling shoes in Ashton-under-Lyne. It was not long before he started up his own shop, which became a great success. Edward became a well respected member of the local community and became Alderman of the borough.
