Noosa is situated on the Sunshine Coast, on the East Coast of Australia, in the state of Queensland. It is 160kms (73 miles) north of Brisbane, the State's capital, and with its idyllic climate, beautiful setting and desirable lifestyle it attracts a host of celebrities and successful business people from all over the world. Tennis star Pat Rafter grew up here and still resides here part-time. Playwright David Williamson chooses Noosa as his home.

Noosa is just south of the Tropic of Capricorn and boasts an average temperature of between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius. The enticing blue waters of the Pacific Ocean range from a pleasant 19 degrees in winter to around 25 degrees Celsius in summer. The summers are long and the winters short.

Noosa has a variety of superb beaches, from Sunshine Beach at the top of the Sunshine Coast through to Main Beach at Noosa Heads. Both Main Beach and Sunshine Beach are patrolled beaches. As Noosa Main Beach faces North, it is protected from the regular SE winds. Inevitably, there is always one beach that's experiencing perfect conditions. One of the most spectacular bays in the national park is Alexandria Bay (A Bay) which is a long stretch of beautiful sandy shores with not a building in site.
