McMenamins
McMenamins Pubs and Breweries owns and operates more than 55 gathering spots for food, drink, music and events in Oregon and Washington. Brothers Mike and Brian McMenamin founded the Portland company in 1974 with a single pub. Now all McMenamins Pubs and Breweries' handcrafted beverages include beer, wine, whisky, brandy, gin and coffee.
The McMenamin brothers turned the brewery business on its head, opening theater-pubs and renovating historic buildings. Portland's former Kennedy Elementary School is now home to a hotel, pub, restaurant, movie theater and special event rooms. Downtown Portland's Crystal Ballroom hosts national music acts on its bouncing floor.
The company's mission -- to provide "A Place for Families and Friends" -- has served as a guide for turning all sorts of unique locations into fun gathering spots. Many McMenamin's locations have become popular venues for conferences, weddings, family reunions and other events.
