- Magic City Moments, Inc. came about in an unusually inspired manner. The year 2000 found the editor in and out of UAB Hospital and Kirklin Clinic. Diagnosed with end-stage alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, I was given two months to live. During that year, I had the privilege of learning first-hand about our excellent medical facilities, and also about the kindness of the people of Birmingham.
