LOOP Improvements (LOOP) is first and foremost a search technology company. LOOP continually enhances the Net Research Server software platform to include the latest in search technology and usability. By bringing together multiple search technologies under one software platform, LOOP can offer its strategic partners and customers a compelling one stop solution for building research applications on Intranets and Portals.

LOOP Improvements LLC was founded in April 2000 to create universal search technology on top of the Open Directory Project. Inspired to unlock the estimated 500 billion pages locked in the Invisible Web, an area of the web only accessible through search engines, we built an engine that imports the entire Open Directory Project and crawls each page looking for search engine forms. The search engine forms are broken down into their structured elements and stored into a database featuring over 1 million forms. Universal search technology then uses the forms to automatically find relevant searches for a given set of search results, and searches these in turn to uncover vast areas of hard to find content. The technology has been further developed with federated document spidering and indexing, and an application development metaphor featuring news, metasearch, site search, custom directories, and user personalization.
