Description
When I took over as President a year ago, I stated that the Society had two basic functions. They were the development of referees and the supply of the best referees we could to our member clubs. I am glad to say that we have been successful in both areas in the past year. Feedback from clubs is, in the main, complimentary and during the year Wayne Barnes has joined Roy Maybank as a full-time referee, whilst Andrew Small has been promoted to the “Elite Group” (which referees Premiership games) to join Sean Davey who was appointed at the beginning of the season.
In addition to this, Steve Walters has recently been selected for the National Panel of Referees (joining our six other referees at this level) and Richard Kelly, Andrew Nicholas and Thomas Woolf have been elevated to the South East Group where they join JP Doyle and Keith Lewis.
My congratulations to them all, and my thanks to the Development Management Team of Tim Miller, Dave Broadwell and David Warren for their hard work and undoubted contribution.
