About Lois Herr
I was born and raised in Elizabethtown, in the heart of south-central Pennsylvania. My Herr family roots go back ten generations in south-central Pennsylvania and Lancaster County. My education and instincts are guided by the men and women who preceded us and laid a foundation for greatness upon which today's generation builds for tomorrow.
My late father, Ira Herr, was the legendary coach and athletic director at Elizabethtown College. My mother, Kathryn Nisley Herr, had a positive impact on countless young people during her career teaching foreign languages at Elizabethtown College. At over 102 years of age, she is still a force in the life of Lancaster County.
I grew up in a home where anything was possible for me. I became a pioneer: often the "first woman" to attempt and successfully achieve many things in my life. I bring this optimism and "can-do" attitude to everything I do, and my campaign for the 16th Congressional district will represent what I hold most dear: simple truths, plain speaking, and a desire to lift up rather than tear down.
