Title
Flowers & Gardening: Landscaping Fence Is Ideal For Small Spaces.
Description
In 1987, Mr. Humble was the owner of a landscape company and came up with the idea fo r Living Tapestries after developing a way of gardening for a friend who was confined to a wheelchair. The vertical design has been a dream come true for patio home and condominium owners with limited yard space. Each standard panel requires only one combined square foot of land!
The original design was a 6'x8' panel made of redwood with a surface spray irrigation system. It took 10 years of testing a variety of designs, planting mediums and irrigation systems to finally come up with a combination for a viable fencing system that would actually grow healthy, sturdy plants while being water conscious.
"The Denver area had been on voluntary water restrictions for several years, so I wanted to develop a way to grow a large, beautiful garden without using a lot of water" says Mark Humble, owner of Living Tapestries. "Our “Fence That Grows” offers a 300% water savings. Each 44” x 22” panel has planting spaces for 76 to 92 plants if you utilize both sides, and only needs 1/2 gallon of water per day.”
