- The Litchfield Area Ministerial Association has been in existence for many years. Though no records are available, it wouldn't be a surprise if the ministers gathered to fortify the faith of Litchfield's citizens from the beginning of the town. In 1870, Trinity Episcopal Church became the first church to formally organize in Litchfield. Their building is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings and they still hold weekly services. Over the next three years the First Presbyterian Church, United Methodist Church, Christian Church of Litchfield and the First Lutheran Church all began to hold services.
