I have always been intrigued by food ever since my Grandma Rose gave me my first cooking lesson - making a lemon meringue pie. She would always say "Add a little of this and a little of that" or "Knead it until it feels like this".
Because this dear, valued advice never seemed quite precise enough for me, I eventually enrolled at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago and graduated with honors. In the process of going to culinary school, and with enough experience, I learned exactly what "Add a little of this and a little of that" and "Knead it until it feels like this" meant! My grandma knew what every chef knows: Cooking is an art that requires an innate sense and that preparing food for those you love is something that comes from the heart.
In the years since I left culinary school, I refined my cooking skills by working at two Chicago restaurants and two Chicago-based catering companies. I became a personal chef in 2001 where I provided custom-made meals to my clients. Unfortunately, in late 2002 I was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer and had to take leave of my business to undergo treatment. Once I was deemed "free of the disease" I began to concentrate on getting back into the swing of things, which led me to Curves. I began to feel stronger and empowered with my workouts and, as a natural course for a chef, I began to study the diet that was created by the founders of Curves. It became a passion for me to help other women fight the weight-loss fight by providing something unusual for them: TASTY, INTERESTING FOOD that would help them stick to their diet until they reached their weight-loss goals.
