Skip and Carol live on eight acres in Southern Indiana. They have been married for 40 years; have 2 grown daughters and 3 grandchildren. Skip has been making belts since 1972. He has continually come up with new designs, and is offering some of his best designs on the net. He started leather crafting as a hobby and in 1982 opened a retail store in a large shopping mall. The store, Leather Man, stayed open for 14 years, when he decided to close the store.
Over the years, Skip has continually strived to purchase better quality leather. His line of English bridal leather is the supplest leather he has ever offered. U.S. native steer hides are slowly vegetable tanned with the right amount of waxes, greases and tallow’s. There is minimal amount of stretch, and is strong, waxy and weather-resistant. They are cut from 10 oz. Double Bends. They make a great work belt or a good-looking dress belt. The double bend comes from the back of the animal, from the shoulders to the butt area. It is the thickest part of the hide and is virtually free of blemishes. The double bend is the ideal choice for beautiful, high quality belts. His tooled leather belts are cut from 9 oz. natural Double Bends, which are vegetable tanned. They are hand stamped in his shop, then dyed to the desired color. His embossed belts are his own designs. No one else has these exact designs.
