Description
I was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1983. I grew up in Norman just a few blocks away from the University of Oklahoma. During this time I discovered Candy Land, Narnia and Tolkien. This was the beginning of my love of the fantastical. I attended McKinley Elementary and enjoyed my first formal recognition as an artist when my crayon drawing of a coral reef was selected for display in the school library. Countless other drawings followed until I had covered a large portion of my family's dining room walls with unicorns, mermaids and other magical beings.
Since 1994 I have lived in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where my family's ancestral roots go back nearly two hundred years. Throughout middle school and high school I continued to practice my art, taking all of the art classes offered. Before my freshman year of high school I got my first computer, which completely changed the way I preferred to create my art. Armed with my art tablet, digital pen and Photoshop, I found that I was able to express myself through digital painting. And with my connection to the Internet, I discovered many helpful art communities and message boards through which I could interact with my digital artist peers.
I have just completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from James Madison University, as of May 6, 2006. I am now on the look out for a full-time game concept art job. In the meantime, I am very interested in doing freelance illustration and working on my own personal projects, namely my book.
