About The Lazarus Resource

This website, The Lazarus Resource, is owned and developed by me, Julian Moss. I am director of Tech-Pro Limited, and manage a number of websites.

I have been an enthusiast for the Pascal language ever since learning it as an undergraduate of the University of Lancaster, in the UK, in 1975. I have been a user of Borland products since Turbo Pascal 3 in 1984. As a freelance contributor to computer magazines, I was a beta tester of Borland Delphi long before it had a name, back in the days when it seemed likely that the product would have been called Visual Pascal or AppBuilder.

I was a keen user of Borland Delphi for more than ten years, up to the release of Delphi 2005 which was buggy and unstable – flaws that were never entirely resolved before Delphi 2006 was released. I was quite angry that Borland should apparently expect me to buy Delphi 2006 in order to fix the remaining bugs in Delphi 2005, and this led me to start to consider migrating my software to Lazarus. The news that Borland is to divest itself of Delphi and its other development tools seemed to me the final nail in the coffin, and I decided to try to help promote Lazarus as an alternative. Hence, this website.
