Latino Promotions began as a speaker's bureau in 1999, featuring Latino writers and scholars who were dedicated to nationally promoting Latino history, politics, and culture throughout colleges and universities. Our goal was to reach those students who have not had the benifits of having Latino or Ethnic Studies professors on their campuses. It was our way to immediately make accessible to those students the knowledge and skills of the many Latino writers and scholars working in the field of Latino Studies.
As we continue to grow and develop, we have expanded our original goal and now serve as an educational resource to a wider audience interested in learning more about Latinos in the United States. As the population of Latinos continues to grow, it will become increasingly necessary for our socirty to learn about the long historical, political, and cultural significance of Latinos in this country. Corporations are now eager to learn about how to reach the growing Latino market while educational and social service institutions need to understand the cultures and issues of the Latino communitites they serve.
We therefore have added additional services and resources, such as our monthly e-newsletter and links to other educational sites on the web. As we continue to expand our efforts by keeping our list of speakers new and diverse while finding innovative ways to pursue our goals, we look forward to your continued support.
