What is Lambiek?
Lambiek is Europe's first comics shop, and the finest of Holland. Founded in 1968 on the Kerkstraat in Amsterdam, the Lambiek name is derived from a popular Willy Vandersteen comics character, and now is probably the oldest existing comics shop in the world. As publisher and editor of two comic encyclopedias and other related books, we are widely recognized for our expertise on all matters concerning comics and sequential art.
Lambiek's art gallery has featured many expositions of European and North American artists who explore the boundaries between comics and 'conventional' art. Browsing through Lambiek's impressive collection of underground, alternative and popular comics from all over the world will stir any imagination. (see layout)
Experience Lambiek - the world's favorite comix shop. Conveniently located near the Leidseplein in Amsterdam's city center, we're just off Leidsestraat between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht, at Kerkstraat 132. You can easily reach us on trams 1, 2 or 5 from Centraal Station. (see map)
