Description
LagNet was formed in 1997 by a group of ZaNet IRC users looking to create an alternative South African IRC Network. What was initially an experiment has grown to become South Africa's second largest IRC Network.
netlag n. [IRC, MUD] A condition that occurs when the delays in the {IRC} network or on a {MUD} become severe enough that servers briefly lose and then reestablish contact, causing messages to be delivered in bursts, often with delays of up to a minute.
The initial experimental LagNet network had slow response and frequent server splits, hence the name. Thankfully this is no longer the case, and LagNet now boasts a fast, stable network.
