Panorama Pink Granite Coast and the Seven Islands, Brittany, France
This is the Pink Granite Coast near Ploumanac'h on the north coast of Brittany, France. The coastline is renowned for its granite rock formations that present a spectacular colour display at sunset. The islands on the horizon form the archipelago of the Seven Islands, a nature reserve where you can do some great bird spotting from a boat (as most of the islands are closed to the general public) - there are puffins, razorbills, cormorants and a colony of 30,000 gannets.
This 180° panorama is composed of 42 individual images, captured with a Canon Powershot Pro1, an 8 MP digicam. The pictures were stitched together with PTAssembler, a front-end that controls the Panotools set and the Enblend plugin that produces a perfectly seamless sky.
The result is a 100 megapixel panorama. The amount of detail is incredible; you can make a 12" x 60" print (30 cm x 150 cm), take a magnifying glass and look for fun details such as these:
