Kettlehouse Brewing Company

Description

Owner Tim O'Leary (seated left in photo) started the Kettlehouse in 1995 as a brew on premise (BOP). We have since evolved into a small microbrewery and neighborhood taproom. He's pictured at left serving samples out of Party Pigs at a recent beer promo at Hunny's in Lolo. Tim received a B.S. in Physics (with a minor in skiing and beer) from Montana State University, and got his start homebrewing in Boulder, CO. The entrepreneurial spirit (i.e. youthful exuberance (i.e. lack of focus)) drove him home to MT to start Montana's only BOP. While the business was in its fledgling stages, Tim discovered a demand for fresh beer in reusable take-out containers

Speaking Of Physics, Russell Sherry our head brewer studied Physics at U of A Fairbanks. With a natural gift for crafting homebrewed beer and a love for Missoula, Russell was a good fit for the Kettlehouse. Since Russell came on board we have built a small quality control lab with lots of fun toys. He's seated to the right in the photo at right. He's also the head mechanic in charge of revving up the beer engine for the Rhino downtown with our popular Double Haul IPA cask condition style.

Al Pils has been with the Kettlehouse since 2001. He is our Taproom Manager, Assistant Beer Promoter, and Chief of all Fly Fishing Operations extraordinaire. He holds a liberal studies degree from the University of Montana and has a varied working history. Al has worked as a landscaper, Disabled Persons House Manager, and a wood floor installation specialist. And you heard that right folks, Al's family way back when was named after a beer. We like him so much we named a beer after him: Al Pilsner - The Missoula Bohemian.
