A person was stabbed in the chest in the Portland neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.The victim was taken to University Hospital after being wounded near 25th and Bank streets about 5 p.m., according to MetroSafe dispatchers.The victim's injuries did not appear life-threatening.
Major parts of both sides of a historic stone bridge over Beargrass Creek in Cherokee Park were found knocked into the creek Wednesday.The Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy is offering a $2,500 reward for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators.The bridge, located at the bottom of the Scenic Loop near Maple Road, was built in 1923 and is known as the Hert Memorial Bridge, in honor of Alvin T. Hert, a local financier of that era, Metro Parks spokesman Jason Cissell said. Repair of the bridge would cost an estimated $250,000 to $300,000, Cissell said. The bridge had also been damaged about two months ago when a car ran into it.The bridge is still open, but warning tape and barriers are along the sides.
