Description
I have over 20 years of experience as a consultant, trainer, and coach, with an emphasis on helping individuals, teams and organizations remove barriers to achieving their full potential. I've written four books on organization development: The Path of Least Resistance: Preparing Employees for Change (Learning Concepts, 1979), Making Change Irresistible: Overcoming Resistance to Change in Your Organization (Davies-Black Publishing, 1998), Balancing Individual and Organizational Values: Walking the Tightrope to Success (Jossey-Bass/Pfeiffer, 2001) and Values-Driven Change: Strategies and Tools for Long-Term Success (in press). In addition, I've published many articles on organizational change, values, team leadership, performance improvement, and training methods, several of which have been widely reprinted. My article, "Evaluating Organizational Values" (see Books/Articles page), received the 2005 outstanding O.D. Journal article of the year award. All of my workshops, consulting and coaching services, and instruments are based on concepts presented in my published works.
Over my career I've been a staff and line manager, university professor, internal consultant, external consultant, psychotherapist, and business owner. I've worked with a wide variety of organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. I hold B.S. and M.A. degrees from Arizona State University, and an Ed.D. in counseling psychology from Rutgers University, with a specialization in group process. In addition, I'm registered as an O.D. Professional by the International Registry of Organization Development Professionals, licensed as a clinical professional counselor by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, and certified as a trainer by the International Board of Certified Trainers, Inc.
