Excerpted from the website description:
- The state of Kansas covers a total area of 82,277 square miles. The state of Kansas is bounded by Nebraska on the north, Missouri on the east, Oklahoma on the south, and Colorado on the west. Kansas was a state that was largely inhabited by the American Indian people of Siouan linguistic. These people lived along the banks of the Kansas and Saline rivers as do the tribes of any origin. These people are called the Kaw. The place between the Kansas and Saline rivers is now the region called the central Kansas. The Kansas tribes are a semi-sedentary tribe of people. Their main occupation was hunting and farming. Each tribe had a chief. The chieftains were chosen for their wisdom and bravery. Later on the chiefs were chosen by hereditary. Even then there were some tribes like the Omaha, Osage in which the chiefs son was required to prove that he was worthy of leading the tribe.
