José FrÃas
Description
pulled from site's meta descriptionI am a production sound mixer and occasional sound designer and re-recording mixer based in New York City. A graduate of New York University’s prestigious Music Technology program, I have been involved in sound for nearly a decade, and have worked on numerous films, video games, and other media. Originally from a strong music production and engineering background, I started working extensively in film sound while at NYU, often collaborating with filmmakers from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Since then, I’ve been involved in over 30 productions, ranging from small- and big-budget student films, to TV Pilots, to indie feature films, and more. I am highly experienced in narrative, experimental, as well as ENG and EFP sound. Comfortable with everything from bag, “Gun-N-Run,” to cart-based, multi-track recording, I am fully capable of providing high quality sound; whether it be single- or double-system recording, from single- to multi-camera set-ups. I am proficient with analog and digital, tracking and mixing consoles (SSL, Avid, Mackie, Yamaha, etc); field mixers and recorders (Sound Devices, Zaxcom, etc.); Microphone selection (Schoeps, Sennheiser, Neumann, AKG, DPA, etc.) and placement techniques (Boom, Lavalier, Plant/Stash, etc.); RF Wireless (Lectrosonics, Zaxcom, Sennheiser, etc.); IFB/Monitoring (Zaxcom and Comtek); Timecode and Sync Sound; and Playback. I have a superb understanding of signal flow and possess excellent troubleshooting skills (both technically and aesthetically). Last, but certainly not least, I have incredible work ethic, which has been ranked as second to none, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. I am available for work as a Production Sound Mixer, Boom Operator, and/or Utility Sound Technician. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions, seek references, need equipment list, or have any other inquiries!
