Description

Ali established himself as an entrepreneur by co-founding LinkExchange, which was acquired by Microsoft for $265 million in 1998. Focused on helping the little guys, LinkExchange launched the web's most popular small-business portal, largest banner ad network, most popular email list-management service, and other services - many of which are still offered today under Microsoft's small-business umbrella. Ali co-founded "DrinkExchange," a monthly social event that spread from San Francisco to San Diego, Washington, London, Tokyo, and Sydney. As one of the earliest advocates of the paid search model, Ali has provided strategic consulting to Google, Overture, PayPal, and Yahoo.

After leaving Microsoft, Ali co-wrote a feature film and started a band, both of which failed. In 2002 he led the effort to save GarageBand.com from being shut down and has been with the company since. Ali is an avid guitarist and GB member since 2001. He is Hadi Partovi's twin brother.

Hadi established himself as a talented leader during the browser wars: he was Group Program Manager for Internet Explorer. After the release of IE 5.0, Hadi co-founded Tellme Networks. After spearheading Tellme's shift from consumer services to enterprise call-center automation and delivering directory and customer-care services for AT&T, FedEx, E*TRADE, and more, Hadi left the company and returned to Microsoft. Before joining GarageBand, he was General Manager of MSN.com, where he delivered 30% annual growth and incubated Start.com (now WindowsLive.com). Hadi has also served as strategic advisor to numerous startups including The Facebook, Edusoft (acquired by Houghton Mifflin), and 2Web Technologies (now Google Spreadsheets).
