I have been having problems attempting to charge and sync my iPhone recently with my Mac Pro. It seemed as though the Mac would see the phone, but not give any power to it. Sure enough, a quick look at Console, and I found that the usbmux thread was stopping cold, because it saw that the phone was requesting ExtraPower. OK. Great. Here I am thinking I’ve got a screwed up cable, so I borrowed another cable from my brother (who is a college Apple rep). Same problem.
