Short Biography of Venerable Lobsang Ngawang

Venerable Lobsang Ngawang is a novice monk, founder and co-director of Jhamtse Foundation. He was born February 8. At the age of 7, he joined Seramey Thoesam Norling Mahayana Monastic University and became a monk. There he studied Buddha Dharma, English and Arts. He completed classes one through eight in monastic primary school in 1997. He later joined Tibetan Buddhist philopshy course and is currently studying Paramita. He speaks English, Tibetan, Hindi, and Nepali.

Ven. Lobsang Ngawang has taken the vow of Novice monk in 1999-2000 from most Honorable Kyabje Dhakpa Rinpoche. In 1962, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama appointed Most Honorable Venerable Dhakpa Tritul Rinpoche as the Abbot of Sera Mey Monastery. He was the first Abbot of the Monastery in exile. Rinpoche took his place as an abbot for three years. He is also the 6th Incarnation of 49th Gaden Tripa.

In 2004, Venerable Lobsang Ngawang came to the United States because he is moved by the by the suffering of Tibetans throughout Asia, and recognizes the need for education to keep the rich teachings of Tibetan Buddhism alive and to find relief for alleviating the simple material needs for monks.
