Jambo Nairobi literally translates to "Hello Nairobi". Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya, a country in eastern Africa. This site is not about Nairobi. However, the name comes from my initials, JN. Jambo Nairobi was used for the first time by a good friend of mine back in 1994 when we developed a vehicle tracking system and we needed code names that we could use over the data bearer ham radio.
