- About myself
- There are two passions in my life: languages and Italy. My experience with languages goes back to my childhood in Switzerland, a country which counts four official languages and where the first foreign language is taught at primary school. After apprenticeship and professional schooling as a business employee, I have always worked closely with languages and communication: as a translator, hotel manager, tour guide and freelance reporter. My professional career has also offered me the chance to travel and live in French and Spanish-speaking countries for a number of years. It was during one of these trips that I discovered my second passion: in 1980 I set off alone to explore Tuscany and Umbria, only to find my new home. A year later I moved to Italy, and since then not a day has gone by without me discovering something new about this fascinating country and its melodic language. Many of these details cannot be found in either tourist guides or textbooks, nor are they easily found on the Internet or in documentaries. Communicating the unknown aspects of the eclectic country of "saints, poets and navigators" – as the Italians call the "Belpaese" – but also of its society and modern language in constant and continuous transformation has become my profession.
