San Francisco Bay Area Iranian American Chamber of Commerce: IACC
Description
To unite, promote, and facilitate the growth of businesses and professional practices owned or operated by, or affiliated with Iranian-Americans in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Although the IACC held it's first OFFICIAL meeting on November 14th 2000, the IACC's founders had been meeting and actively working on issues concerning the San Francisco Bay Area Iranian-American Business community well before that date.
A good example was July 1st, 1999 when five of the Chamber's Founding Members went before the Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and presented (on behalf of all Iranian-American Business Owners) an eloquent case for the community being granted preferential "Minority" status. We are proud to say that they convinced the Board to grant preferential "Minority" status to Iranian-Americans and that San Francisco is the first city in the United States to recognized us in such fashion.
