Isle of Man Government Officers Association - GOA
Description
The Association was founded in 1921 and amalgamated with, and became a branch of, IPCS (later IPMS) in 1988. IPMS joined with EMA and formed the new union Prospect on 1 November 2001. The objectives of the Association are to protect and promote the interests of members and to assist in the development and improvement in Government Service. All officers of the Isle of Man Civil Service are eligible for membership.
The Association has the right to participate in formal agreements affecting the Pay and Conditions of service of Civil Servants and to go to arbitration under the terms of the Isle of Man Civil Service Arbitration Agreement 1991.
The Association has an Executive Council which consists of a Chairman and ten officers, who are all serving civil servants and are elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting held in November. None of the Executive Council is paid.
