Title

Independence Missouri Bed and Breakfast, Woodstock Inn, Kansas City, MO

Description

was built in 1900 as a doll and quilt factory. It was known as Ruby Short-Mckim's studio or Kimport Dolls from the early 1900s until the 1980s. Ruby Short-Mckim was an extraordinary woman. She had a very successful business designing

quilts. She had her own mail-order catalog, syndicated newspaper column and even wrote a book. From the proceeds of the book, she

toured Europe and brought back porcelain dolls. There was so much interest in the dolls she brought back that she began making porcelain dolls, too. Then in 1987, Charles Woodstock and Lane and Ruth Harold bought the building and turned it into an 11-room bed and breakfast, and the Woodstock Inn was born.
