Incidentlog.com provides a central resource where users (such as prospective homebuyers/new movers) can browse or search police reports on crime and incidents, fires, police press releases, and/or sex offender registry information via a simple search interface, or elect to receive email/cell notifications of incidents customizable to the street level. At present there are over 85 data feeds continually sourced into the database at varying intervals. The location of incidents can be viewed graphically via Incidentlog.com's integration of the Google Maps API, which allows incidents to be seen on a map and represented by markers which can be clicked to reveal incident details. These maps are scrollable by clicking and dragging the mouse anywhere within the map, and are zoomable by clicking controls located in the top left area of the map. The majority of the Incidentlog.com system has been developed using open-source software in combination with data provided by the US Census bureau's TIGER database to determine latitude and longitude values for a given address. A large custom control-card driven program was developed by Incidentlog.com which allows fast and effortless integration of new data sources. Some data sources can be added to Incidentlog.com in as little as a half hour with most averaging about 1-2 hours of setup.
