- PoliticsNY.Net: Update: Let me make the point again: In my analysis of the voting trends it was obvious to me, as a wrote pre primary, that Keane would top out at 35% - (maybe) 40% in the general. The primary result made the point, circa 50% of the 8% turnout, 4% of the Democrats in Erie County voting for the endorsed candidate. Keane just does NOT have the support within the party to carry the race. I should mention I am hearing repeatedly from sources very close to both Lenihan & Keane that there is a split between Keane & EC Chairman Lenihan. Of course they will deny the reports. I believe it is clear there is a breach in relations between the two. The reason Lenihan waited to long to make the endorsement. Keep in mind Lenihan told any one that would listen when he was pushing Poloncarz big time that Keane could not beat Collins, just ask IP Chairman Orsini. Actually both Poloncarz & Marinelli would probably be doing much better right now than Keane. Combine all of that with the problems that exist between Brown/Casey, the Clark/Max faction, historic cool relations with the Wards & Lenihan could be in trouble next September if he lasts that long. ###
